Flagstaff, Arizona — Flagstaff Medical Centers was once known as Gifford Medical Center.
But after a series of tragic events, the name changed to Flagstaff Memorial Medical Center in 2017.
The Flagstaff Medics had no idea it would be renamed Flagstaff and Memorial Medical.
The medical center closed in May 2017, and a new facility was built in 2020.
“The medical center in Flagstaff was really the first of many,” said Giffords spokeswoman Erin Kelly.
“I think people really got a glimpse of what Flagstaff could be.”
A new hospital is planned at the new facility, and Giffells is still working to find a new name for the medical center.
The hospital, known for its specialty in heart surgeries, is expected to be fully operational by 2021.
