Carlsbad Medical Center, the only emergency department in California, said it was adding a third nurse practitioner in an effort to speed up care for people with carlsblad symptoms.
The nurses will be able to help patients at home as well as with their family members, said hospital spokeswoman Michelle Burdette.
The nurses are expected to be available through the first three weeks of next month.
Carlsbad, about 45 miles (64 kilometers) south of San Diego, has a large population of undocumented immigrants.
The area has seen an uptick in carlsbarred car crash deaths and hospitalizations, as well.
The hospital said the new nurse practitioner will be working with patients at a speed of around 25 minutes per patient.
That’s faster than other emergency departments in the area, Burdett said.
